My school
My school is a prefabricated
rectangular two-storey building. It is between Recchi St. and Orlando St. and it is
surrounded by a large garden with many trees. It is situated in a suburb named
"Pantano" (i.e. quagmire ) since here the ground was marshy in the past .
It is dedicated to Gianni Rodari, who was a great story and fairy-tale writer.
|
Inside there is a big gym which has been restored, a theatre, a room for the
music therapy, a refectory, the library, the computer lab, two large halls, a strong room
for same teaching aids, a room for the photocopy machine, another where the
school-caretakers and also the first-aid cupboard are.
|
Finally there are classroom, where 167 pupils spend there mornings.
The teachers are 13 and the school caretakers (who bring the photocopies, check that the
pupils don't go out from school and serve food at table at the refectory) are three.
Lessons start at 8.20 am and they end at 12.55 p.m.
We also have a short interval.
On Tuesday lessons end at 4.30 p.m.
During the interval we go to the garden in summer, but in winter we stay in the
classrooms.
When we are in garden we can all play chase, but if we don't feel like doing it, we simply
stroll around the meadow.
In the classrooms we play cards and dominoes.

Our class-room
Our class-room is
big, it is rectangular and it has two large windows, therefore it is very bright. It is
heated by two radiators.
The walls are white and light brown and on them there are many, posters about the alpine
landscape, a black-board and some boards made by our teachers to remind us the spelling
difficulties.
There are two wooden cupboards on the apposite ends and they are always kept open.
The room is usually hot and we wear t-shirts even in wintertime we feel very well.
At the bottom of the class-room there are twenty-two hooks where we hang up our coats,
sweaters, overalls and bags.
There are twenty-two desks, even though we are nineteen and mad, in a funny and good way!!

in the lower side, there are various posters.
The floor has small white tiles, there a steel sink and cupboard. There are some tables,
which are laid white paper table-clothes and plastic cutlery, glasses and plates at lunch-
time.
On Tuesday there is a great noise at lunch- time and the teachers and are served by down
we cover the table cloth with paper napkins.
At the end of the lunch a teacher inspects under the tables to see if there are any
waste-papers, but if we notice that there are some of them, we tread them under our feet
not to be scolded.
