The "Basic School 1º Level n. 8 de Santarem" is situated in a new quarter,
in full housing and trade development. In this school there are 323 students, aged between
6 and 10, divided in 16 classes. There is one teacher for each class and five other
teachers to help children with different handicaps.
Our school is known as "Lions School" (that's why the lions appear in the
homepage), because before its appearing and in the same place, there was a soccer field
named "Lions field"(the lion is the emblem of a famous Portuguese soccer team).
The school building is a P3, dating back to 1984. |
It has 12 classrooms divided in 4 blocks, each one
containing 3 rooms and also a working area for supporting activities; a polyvalent room
for Expression activities and Physical Education, as well as meetings and parties
involving the whole school community.
On the ground floor, besides the polyvalent room, there is the Installing Council room,
two other rooms where children with special educational needs are supported, a room with
didactic material and a photocopier, a kitchen and toilets and showers.
On the east side of the first floor, there is a computer room, an audio-visual room, a
library and a space to artistic expressions.
