The City of Stockholm organizes the Stockholm Challenge Award in order to provide the world with an opportunity to meet and network across cultural and geographical borders.
Year after year it offers new examples how one can use IT for the benefit of all people and societies.

Projects show in practice how IT is applied in everyday life.
The SCA want to show how IT can benefit citizens, societies and environments. At the heart of the Stockholm Challenge lies the idea that sharing of knowledge and creation of new personal relationships, helps individuals, and thereby also cities and regions, to reach the frontline of new technology.
Projects compete in seven categories, in areas where IT has great influence on people’s lives.

This year more than 700 IT projects from 90 different countries through out the world joined the Stockholm Challenge Award 2001.

100 of these were selected finalists by the international jury, and invited to Stockholm and the Final Events. About 60 of these finalists exhibited their work at the Stockholm Challenge Best Practice Exhibition.

EuropeanKids Project has been selected as finalist in the Education category.
We were invited to the Final Events that took place last week of September 2001. We went to Stockholm.
The program started on September 24 with a seminar called World Café - a new way to reach the questions that matter through open discussions between all participants - all contributing with their experiences and knowledge.
On September 25 it was possible for the public to meet the finalists and to learn more about their work at an exhibition held at the Stockholm Cultural Centre (the Stockholm Challenge Best Practice Exhibition).
The days in Stockholm ended with the Prize-Giving Ceremony, taking place in the noble surroundings of the City Hall on September 26.

It was an exciting opportunity to study and bring about the fantastic possibilities brought by information technology to the rest of the world.

Look at the pictures... and enjoy them!
